It's been a long time since I blogged, however today I decided It was time. My son and I have just arrived home from trying to go to 3 Little Monkeys in Ottawa, ON. It is located on Bank Street, however we arrived after it had closed. What was the urgency ? I had seen a very nice doll house on Facebook and it turns out there is a give away by Twig Studio Kids and 3 Little Monkeys for the large twigstudio dall house that I believe would spark my sons imagination and provide hours of play. I think it is beautiful and that it will be a wonderful prize for the lucky winner. You should check out the contest here. It was very easy to enter and the draw is tomorrow. this is the cucumber that we grew in our yard.

it has been a long time, but I am finally giving mom a few moments to herself. The house is so quiet now. Grammie, aunt Bertha and Shirley are out shopping.

I have had some busy days, we have gone to the park and to the BARN..... and funny thing was we met up with Sharon there. I have some new trucks that mom found and i am having fun. I have also gone shopping a few days.

while I was sleeping the last few days mommy and aunt Shirley fixed up the back yard. Mom also harvested green tomatoes and mom and grammie made chow chow. can not wait to have some of that!

Mom was looking for an email from my aunt to send her a birthday wish, but no luck so i will do it\ this way... happy b-day Shirley...WE had a great time, poppy mommy and I walked around the block and checked out the decorations... Dad guarded the treats...then we waited and waited and waited for trick or treaters....I went next door, Mom said i did not need the treat... silly mom. Nova was my ninja, and stayed in the car most of the night so he was good and did not bark...

I got tired and went to bed, and mom said they got tired soon after and closed up shop and went to bed too... we had about 80 treaters, no trickers...

Hey I was a little sad that we lost Stanley... but as my wise uncle Jim said not to worry it was Canadians that won it after all! I'm so close to seeing everyone, I'm getting excited...mom's not saying to much as she's a little worried about the driving AND the flying! Pick one Mom!

Well, I went to a nice place last week....there were lots more babies, and a BIG BIG BIG glowing box (the glowing box is what dad calls the TV) The screen was as big as the house.... it was great. I giggled at the big green ogre in lovely far far away...I watched until the very end when I fell asleep in my aunts arms .... who by the way ate all the popcorn she bought me! (she shared with mom)

Hello all, sorry for the lack of posts, I have been busy and mom's been using the computer a lot. I had visitors last night. Aunt Stella and uncle Derrek...I have to say I was a tad cranky, and I even went to bed earlier then usual. I have no pics to post either because of my early sleeping. I will blame it on the batteries, the batteries ran out on swing yesterday, no long naps at all for me.

So what's going on, the are cooking duck every where here in Ottawa. They are making duck sandwiches, duck poutine, bbq duck....duck everything! And is Anaheim a flavor? It all seemed to be Anaheim duck they were cooking...don't know about duck.

Drive to Sittsville

We took a drive out to Sittsville today, just to have a little drive, and because it was raining and we couldn't walk anywhere in a sensible way. Kevin enjoyed the drive -- he does not know that it's part of his preparation for his long drive to Halifax coming soon. He slept for most of the first half, then posed for pictures on the way back.

I had to try on my new clothes, I did not want to wait till monday. They are flying down to USA today so this will help them get there! Mom and dad are amazed with me, I hold on to things and they get all excited, big deal wait till I rip off that sparkly chain mom has, or dad's glasses. Then lets see the amazement.
I noticed my toes the other day thought they were interesting, I will check them out a little more later, they were to far away and not quite sure how to get them yet. I have been tasting everything i can hold. I especially like to chew on mom's finger when she wraps it up in one of my facecloths.

Well everyone I have been busy, not able to get out of my crib to type anything, also have been kind of tired so no posts with the early morning feeding...

Also some news on the home front.... our house is sold sold sold, and we have been looking around in fact i have a pic of me ready to go out and look at houses...

If all goes well we will be living in a house in Findlay creek.... Its very nice with a yard for nova and I... the furry one seems to think he has dibs on it because i get my own bedroom.... There is also a cool place down stairs that i might have to fight him for... it would make a nice place for a dog bed... or a castle to play in ;)

Wow what a weekend!

OK so had a crazy weekend! So here I am with the aunt we found at the Airport... Dorothy came to visit me and guess what two days later another aunt, Sharon showed up... it was a two aunt weekend...
So they kicked mom and dad out of the house so they could have me all to themselves .. we partied to the wee hours of the early evening when i downed a bottle and off to dream land I went. I'm sure they went to bed right after!
So we were shopping, eating and driving this weekend... and I was good....Mom's finally getting it, I like to have someone sitting beside me when we go out...then I don't have to scream.
As I type this Monday evening, do you know what else happened, Grammy showed up with another aunt and and uncle Jim and Rita their daughter, my cousin is 19 tomorrow and they came to wish her happy birthday (happy birthday Amanda, mom says you can't buy for me what was bought for you until I'm 19)

Well all I have to say is Discovery channel HD is right if you have one Ant you have many many more.....although the ants I find do not look like the ones on the TV! I found another one yesterday, mom and I went for a drive early in the morning and we stopped and one got in? Where do they come from? I smiled and gave her the eye...I know I won her heart! I'm ready to hit the grounds of Nova scotia, I have been provided with the official nova scotia tartan! If i must say myself it looks rather charming.

So ant (aunt) Dorothy mom and I hit the Mall..... Mom went nuts huggies sale was found and my playmat, well lets just say the attachments were on sale too, oh and the bonus case of similac was also found! Hope daddy don' t get upset with all mom's splurging. So with all that stuff, mom still bought a coffee for herself, can you imagine that, a coffee!

I was good yesterday, had a nap on Dorothy to get ready for the shopping then slept in the car.....I woke up in a card shop, was going to cry...then i heard mom talking to me...so i decided not to cry....Had lunch outside of toys-r-us.... back to the car and back to sleep...

So I come into this world and come home to a wonderful loft.... so bright and cozy. I'm 8 weeks old and they sell it from under me... I'm a little sad again today.. house sold, poked with needles in BOTH legs... OH and I'm 15.5 lb and 24.2in long

:) I'm normal by the way, mom asked.... its just that I am at the TOP of the growth chart! See top of my game already! I guess its a good think mom and dad started saving for my university already..... Thanks to all the gifts that came with nanny, poppy,vicki , grammy when they came to visit and in the mail!

So mom was laughing today, she was calling me little buda? why, I don't know why....It has been a few days from my last post. I decided to give mom a little break and now I am in my swing (with the laptop of course, how else could i make this post from the swing)

The furry one learned a hard lesson today, he has no choice but to walk beside my stroller, if he does not, he gets run over... and my stroller has big wheels... so this is good. so mom's a tad bit scared to take me for drives now, she decided to get some food for Nova. We can walk there and back in about 15 min. I cried again, she just don't get it..... I was warm, but had no sun directly on me and was in a very light diaper shirt.. Mom and Dad are going to take me out together to see if they can understand me together!

Hey,

Had a ruff day today, mom did not understand me one bit.....
We left the furry one behind, and well i started to cry a little shortly after leaving the house.... but then I fell asleep...I woke to hear mom being told that there is no stroller access to the baby clothing sale because they don't want strollers down there... Well I never....
I know I'm young but who would be out at 11am on a week day at a baby clothing sale? Maybe mothers or Fathers that are on leave with their new born, or maybe men or women who have chosen to stay home with us little guys? But I am young and that was just a thought....

We left there and again mom just did not get me, she got 3 min down the road and had to pull over, take me out of my car seat.... I was warm to warm, she striped me right there in the car, thank god our back windows are tinted!!! I had some milk and mom changed me...... then we went to cost co to get some new sleepers as well, mom's calling me a weed....I don't know why
We found several pair of 9 month sleepers,,,,I'm getting tall.... so yes, mom's already buying 9 month sleepers... So I started to cry again, I wanted the rest of the milk that I started to eat in the car... Mom fed me right by the sleepers, and off to dream land I went.

I woke to find mom snapping my seat in the car....I started to cry again... mom drove off for about another 3 min, then pulled off and changed me, checked to see if i was too hot, then offered more milk.... oh i was so hungry today... I was burped and cuddled for some time in a parking lot in the back of mom's baby Mobil...

Back in the car seat I went, crying I started again....mom sang to me, pleaded with me, finally we made it home...

All this took place in less then 2.5 hours..... that was my day how was yours?

So I woke up to find that I missed a game that included Ottawa...which is the next best team to cheer for as I live here in Ottawa! I hope to go to a hockey game someday! Maybe mom will hold out and take me to one and it can be our first hockey game together! Who knows! I just know that I will have to see at least one game.

So its happened mom has started to do "cute" things with me....like how many people had there money on a puppy towel? Nope, I'm a frog, yes I'm a green amphibian, but only when i'm out of water. I have to say it is nice and warm and lots big for me. I will have room to grow in this frog suit.

Storm Day!

Hi my followers....

Mom and I are having a storm day, Mom says I will love them and she will hate them when I go to school. It's not nice, its raining/snowing and chilly out. Mom said to me she thinks twice about going out just to go out on days like this since I arrived. I don't know why, I like to play in the snow too. Freezing rain, well i would like that too!
So mom decided to play dress up and she put some clothes on me, and she went shopping in the "it's too big drawer" as she had to move some things to the "it no longer fits container" Poor mom had a tear in her eye as she had to move the froggie/duckie sleepers that I had on when i came home from the hospital.
I'm not very sleepy to day and mom keeps putting me in the swing to knock me out then move me to a bed, but i wake up. I had my longest sleep yet! Dad put me to sleep at 7pm and I did not wake up until 1am. That is a record, however i was so hungry, so hungry! It was a good thing mom was up as i needed a snack before the bottle had time to warm.

So Sad, but hoppy at the same time

Goodevening, I was a little sad this morning. I watched the first period in my chair, then i snuggled in with mommy and well it was so cozy i fell asleep. I awoke the next morning to find the other team won. Well my uncle jim was saying bad things about what I had on, and he wanted my pamper to leak on them. HEHEHE, Nova fixed him...I found out Nova changed the channel with five min left and no one noticed...so no one had to see poppy's team not win. Good boy furry one!

On a different note, today was easter and the bunny found me, even though I am only 1 month old. We had dinner with my aunt Rita, uncle Jim and my cousin Amanda Jayne.

I also was playing with my bunny :) today.

Hello everyone, I have not had time to post as i have been busy eating sleeping, and pooing..... I am now awake much more and this limits mom's cleaning time! Mom and I ventured to a baby wellness clinic, that I can go to for the next two months when ever I want.
They weighed me while Nova waited for us in the car...Their scale (with pamper and clothes) said that I weighed 12lb 7oz....I'm growing, but of course mom knew this as some of my clothes are getting too short for me.

Was there a hockey game last night, I was ready for it.... but i missed it.... Did our team win?

Well i must go now, i am going to have a nap on this Good Friday.... mmmmmm Fridays for sure are good!

Hey, its me.... not very sleepy today was up at 2, 4 and 6 am.... mom's not so keen on that schedule....But I think she's up for the day now.....she needs to wash my clothes and make my formula. Dad made it last night but I already had several of those bottles over the night/morning.

I would not burp for mom earlier and that's why I am up so much, my belly hurts and mom understands she looks sad when I cry...

Sharon and Bruce were here to visit me this weekend and pictures will be posted when I talk to dad, but he had to go back to work. Yesterday was my first day home with only mom and the furry one. He seems like he feels like he needs to protect Mom and I.... He is barking with every little noise.

Well I must go, I think i need to eat soon.... I want a bottle! yes I want a bottle, MOM I WANT A BOTTLE PLEASE.

blowing bubbles again

Hello everyone, sorry no pics but only dad has them on his computer, mom, Nova or I can not get to them. I am relaxing in my swing blowing bubbles, this is the only place i do this. I don't know why, I just do. Mom's trying to make me sleep I know she is, I just know it. I was almost asleep and lucky for me the music turned off and it woke me up.

I was up at 3:30 this morning, then again at 5am. At 5am mom just held me and I went back to sleep. I loves it when i get held. Mom holds me on my side and that makes be feel better. Daddy holds me over his shoulder and I find that nice too.

Not much to report, I have my first prescription for a rash on my face. That's the newest thing. Mom's still seeing a nurse everyday and Monday they are going to come in to the house instead of mom taking off, while i give dad a hard time, to see the nurse.

O i am so tired, but i do not want to close my eyes, can't fight it, good night everyone.... nap time

There are new photos as always, and two new videos: Poppy burps Kevin, and Nanny feeding Kevin.

Otherwise, all is well. Kevin continues to be a good sleeper, and is well contented most of the time. Diaper changes are not nearly as bad (yet) as I'd anticipated.... actually, it's one of the easier jobs... though the clothing aspect is sometimes a challenge. Daddy likes things that don't slip over the head and prefers ones that button up. Simple is better -- always.

Nanny Poppy and Vicki

Nanny and Poppy Anthony and Aunt Vicki have arrived and have declared Kevin perfect. They came with all sorts of gifts for the baby, a couple of suitcases worth I think. Thanks to everyone back home who sent something, it was all very nice and very thoughtful.

Kevin went for another doctor's appointment today, all is well. He is over 10 lbs now, and is growing at a good rate. He was measured, probed and prodded... and everything, again, seems in good order. He's due back for a checkup in 2 weeks, and will recieve his first vacinations at 2 months.

Kevin lost his chord remnants today, and is proudly displaying his new nice "inny". Grandma Jardine felt comfortable enough with our efforts that she was able to go home today, confident that we can keep Kevin safe overnight until Nanny and Poppy Anthony and Aunt Vicki arrive in the morning.

I made it everyone! I'm here to stay, I didn't mean to grow so well that mom had to be cut to get me out... but hey its better then being squished all up to escape, especially when i really didn't want to leave. The furry one tells on me when i make a mess in my diaper...I guess he is on their side. I will have to keep that in mind if i decide to let him in on any secrets. He's not been too close to me yet just his big brown nose. Mom and Dad tell me that Nova will be my buddy as I get older....we'll just see about that! Do you know he comes in my room and sicks his nose in my crib...that's my bed, I don't stick my nose on his bed. I am drinking more formula now, mmmmmm I like formula.... dad calls it baby narcotics mom says it makes me spacey. I have a great time with Grammy here, she helped mom and dad so much and she gave me lots of kisses and hugs and says how cute I am. I will miss her lots but will see her again this summer. Maybe she can come back and visit more!

I am looking forward to seeing my Aunt Vicki , nanny and poppy in just two days.

First checkup

Kevin went to the doctor today for a checkup. All is well. He had his eyes, back, head, hips, mouth all checked. He's weighing close to his birthweight now, so things are going nicely. He was very well behaved during the car ride and the long wait in the doctor's office. I think he likes his carseat/carrier.

All is well. He's pretty much sleeping through the night... hours at a stretch most times, so we're getting some rest and starting to feel human after the journey of birth. Tomorrow we have an appointment with the lactation consultant to check on the breastfeeding.

Mommy's checkup

Mommy went and had her staples removed today. All is well. She has another appt in a couple weeks to have it checked on. It was our first outing. Grandmother was babysitting while we went to the doctors, and picked up a few more newborn pampers. We returned within about 1 1/2 hours to find our boy sleeping soundly.

Fussy little man

It's late/early - 2:30 am. Kevin had a fussy evening last night, he kinda didn't get to sleep, and we missed a cycle... and he was ready to eat again before he'd been really actually put down -- though I'm sure he managed to catch a few winks. He was cranky. Anyways, we managed to feed him, and comfort him, and burp and change him, and get him to bed in his crib for the first time.

I'm sure there's much worst to come with regard to fussyness, but it's remarkable in that it's really the first time we've had any trouble at all. He's fairly easily contented. But I guess his schedule got messed... and who isn't displeased when that happens.

Public Health

We had a visit from the Ottawa Public Health nurse today. Mommy's incision is looking good, the redness that she had is going away and she's up and about and full of vigor after a really good night's sleep. Kevin is sleeping very well, and feeding well. He's so easily contented thus far.

Kevin has gained more weight, and is now up in weight to 9 lbs 7 ounces, giving him only 5 ounces to go before he's back to his birthweight. The public health nurse was pleased with him, and said his jaundice is looking quite good. He's at the peak of bilirubin production today, so it should only improve from this point forward.

It seems that mom's milk is coming in, because he's getting even more contented with the breast, and seems satisfied with less formula.

Big poops

Ok, I admit that I was really worried about poop today, or the lack thereof. How can so much go in and not come out? Let's just say that I need not have been concerned. It all worked out in the end.... so to speak.

We're getting snatches of sleep. You always hear about the sleep deprevation that comes with newborns, but I would never have thought that it was possible to go so long with just a nap or so. Simple math is currently impossible, except where it's required to measure formula and feeding times... even then it's a challenge. I went to the store today, and was quite concerned for the other motorists as I'm sure I was the mental equavalent of someone who had tucked away a quart of paint thinner.

I wonder if the parents of other children who are not the smartest, strongest and most handsome are jealous? Shhhhh... we'll just keep it a secret.

I adore my little prince.

Today Kevin had a bath in the evening time, and was very good and content all last night and today. Well, except when hungry and trying to latch... but that's understandable. Tammy is doing so very well with the breastfeeding. You'd think this would be easy and normal (I assume cavepeople didn't have many lactation consultants) but it requires lots of learning both for mommy and baby. It does not help that we basically have an entire generation that don't know much about breastfeeding, and were never able to see their moms or siblings doing it. We're fortunate that he's a VERY good sucker. I think our progress is exceptional.

Kevin is very alert, and has been holding his own head since day two basically. He's very strong, and holds himself by his elbows and knees when on Mommy's or Daddys tummy and shoulder. He has deep blue eyes (that can easily change in future), and loves to stare at you when feeding, or contentedly alert. He's able to follow his rattle with his head when he's in the crib or changing table. I'm amazed.

I'm amazed also at both the helplessness and deep instinct that a newborn shows. He's got lots of buttons! Brushing his cheek and around the top of the ear makes him root and suck. Pressing the palm of his hand also helps him suck when he starts to forget what he was doing. The bottoms of his feet make him wakeup if he's falling asleep when feeding. The roof of his mouth makes him start to suck. Hmmm, well... basically he has buttons that make him eat... and for now, that's good enough.

His first sneeze was startling for us both... so is the startle reflex itself that he occasionally does for reasons I can't fathom (often if dreaming). He hiccups alot.

Coming home

Kevin James took his first car ride today, and slept peacefully all the way home. At home, Grandma Jardine had cooked some dinner, which Kevin is now enjoying (via Mommy). Nova was introduced, and seems not too bothered by the new addition. Hopefully the blankets we sent home with Kevin's scent have helped.

Kevin's first visitor was uncle Jim who dropped by to say hello and ask if Kevin, because of his size, would like to go skating on the canal next week.

Day 2 and 3 Update

Things are good. Point form only... so little sleep for Mom and Dad:
- Doctor was in this morning. Very impressed. He's in really good shape.
- He has developed a little jaundice (normal). It is being looked after. Not in a place where he need's the lights yet.
- He's lost weight (as is normal and expected). We're supplementing with some formula to help the jaundice and to make sure he does not loose too much weight while Tammy works on producing the "good milk" in a day or so.
- His hearing is good, he was tested this afternoon.
- He was good last night, we tried lots of feedings successfully. I think the mucus he had early has cleared up (again, normal and usual for C-section baby).

Little Kevin is Born!

The big day has arrived. Little baby Kevin James Anthony was born at 6:15 pm EST, March 2, 2007. He weighs 9 lbs, 12 ounces. Both baby and mom are happy and healthy. Dad is very proud and happy.

Checkup

We went for a checkup today. Baby's heartbeat is good, all is well health wise. We saw his little ears. Large baby - at least 8 lbs, probably 10ish. Tammy is scheduled for induction on 6th of March, unless things progress on their own before then.

From Auntie Vicki's and Uncle Jamie's money we got a bottle sterilizer and a couple of bottles/nipples and some other things. Thanks! Tammy is going out to get a breast pump today I think. We've selected the Avent system for all of that. It's supposed to be very good, all works together, and is supposed to be more natural so that switching between breast and bottle will be easier. We'll see.

Parenthood

As you would expect, my mind has been on parenting for the past while. It's an odd feeling. I've always liked kids, but never really truly expected to have one. I find my thoughts returning to when I was a child (a very curious child I might add), and thinking about all the things I learned, and all of the questions I had.

I remember particularly my father and mother teaching me about the colour of the sky, the moon, stars and planets, about geography, mountians, oceans, rivers. What's below the dirt on the ground anyway? What's below the ocean, and above the sky? Why can't you make your own money from paper, and why does it not grow on trees? About law and society. About different people and places. Why can't you send my Chili to the starving children in Africa, I'm sure they would appreciate it alot more than me. About professions. About responsibility.

So much to learn, and so little time really.

My father and mother were 10 years younger than I am now. I don't feel 10 years wiser for my age though. I hope my son will not be able to tell.

The due date, February 24th, has come and gone. I guess they're right about first time pregnancies, they do tend to be late. So, we're in the waiting game.

To tell the truth, the time thus far has gone rather fast. There was all the preparation, and thinking, and the hoping, and the worrying and learning and reading. Now, most of that is past. The baby has come this far with no issues. We've got all the stuff. We're ready. Well, as ready as we're going to be anyways.

We have a new mobile, lots of scary floating bears. Tammy took on a closet organization project, and it's looking good. Well, I am at #8 the doctor wanted another picture of me.... To confirm I am still head down. I am.... She also ordered my Mommy to go home take some acetaminophen and rest as mom's getting something.... Mom was hoping the headache and nausea were the prelude to my arrival.... No luck just some bug....

Mom came home with a picture for Dad. It's a picture of my hair, I have hair, and lots of it. Poor Dad, he loves to see my pictures, but this was a surprise ultrasound.

Hey, I'm still rather comfortable.....don't think I will bother venturing anywhere today..... Its very cold out you know... I can hear in here and it feels like minus 34 outside.... no way, staying put...Mom's been asking me to come early. She finds it hard to do anything even just being up for anylenth of time wipes her out... Sorry mom, its just so darn comfortable in here.... 20 days I promise well maybe 30 you know what its like, getting a few extra days in a place you like. And I know I can get those 10 extra......So don't try and fool me and tell me I have to come! I know my rights. Well must get going, got some growing to do.

Baby update

Good morning! I tried to to write something yesterday but the website would not let me. We did not do to much yesterday. Mom washed clothes all day long, blankets, towels, my clothes.... There are absolutely no items left......Well.....

Mom and I had some beans and wieners yesterday all from one source.... It was interesting... Beans in tomato sauce is actually good!

I now have a a sound and light thing for my crib, a friend of mommy's lent it to her as well gave her a few other things that will be handy for when I make my arrival to the world. Mom thinks its going to be soon, she thinks I have done one of two things last night dropped or totally flipped around. I was very active last night.... Dad was even surprised, especially when I kicked him!
I want daddy to take me to the Winterlude festival today, before I cant go anylonger.

I don't have to much more today other then I will soon see my family for the first time... Cant wait to see my aunts, uncles and grandparents... And the furry one, oh I cant wait to see him.... Mom's all sad right now as Nova went to visit Star up in Barrie for 4 weeks.

Hello everyone, still not out yet. Its nice and warm in hear... Cold out there... Who wants to come out on a day like this.... I hear my nanny and poppy are under a blizzard too.... who wants that.... I will stay!

Mom and I went out shopping yet again today.... Mom said that's it, no more no more...

Mom says I have everything I need to arrive home....
I have my change table , crib, car seat and stroller I have clothes, some wash cloths and towels I have a tub, I have a play pen to be locked upin and a swing to make me happy when I cry. a thermometer to take my temp. the learning puppy from fisher price so i will know hands and feet and tummy and my nose. a diaper pail, clothes hamper, love.

What mom says that I need but not yet are:
disposable diapers, receiving blankets, more wash cloths, a high chair, my bottles, mom and dad are going to use Avent bottles, mom already has one, eventually a breast pump so dad can feed me with the bottles. Teething ring, rattle, toys for birth and up.... Mom had been concentrating on clothes and forgot about bright colors and noises to stimulate my development :( a play mat of somesort... mom's watching the consignment shops to get a good price on one, she has not been able to find one she likes yet.... fingernail clippers....
a new puppy? Thought I would try that one :) a Monitor so mom knows what I'm up to when she gets brave enough to let me be in my bed room all by my self :) baby tylonal for when I get my first fever....baby spoons but not for sometime..... if all goes well. baby wipes...crib sheets, change pad fitted cover

Mom says I am not to want stuff not yet... I'm too little

Mom wants to be told if there is anything that she is forgetting, that her and dad are not realizing they need.... as you know, their current child has fur and goes to a vet. So this is all new to both of them.

some other things I would like:
some sort of baby mirror for car so I can see mom while she'd driving and I'm facing the back of the car where Nova will be.... That's so I can keep him in line and make sure he's being a good boy.

soothing sounds and lights for bed time..... that fits in the crib

Doctor's visit

Hello everyone! I have been to see my doctor today. Had my picture taken, well I had waves sent towards me and my image was projected to a screen! I am so big now mom could not tell what part of me was what.... But that tech when through the usual questions to mom... HOW big were you when you were born! Wow he's a big baby! As of today my weight is estimated at 7.7 lbs..... That's today..... I still have some time to pack on some more weight :) I'm scheduled to arrive one month from today. But all is good! I scored 8/8 on something.... Already getting good marks, and I didn't even study :) No talk of c-section I think mom will have to push.

Prenatal class

We went to prenatal class 1 of 2 last Saturday.

Birth is kinda gross. Many fluids. It takes a really long time (often), and it's not pretty. But, I guess I shouldn't say too much. I don't have to do it, I just have to be there.

We did learn quite a bit so far, so the classes were time well spent. Our instructor, Kim, is very good and keeps things lively, so the day went pretty quickly.

Tam has finished work as of yesterday, so she's getting a geared and prepped for the big day.

Doctor today

Mommy's all mine! She is free to do as I please! Mom had her last day of work yesterday. Work gave her a lovely surprise a keep sake box filled with wonderful stuff for me, me, me, me :) While mom was showing dad everything the furry one was getting jealous, you should have seen him his nose was right in there as if it were for him or something.... I think he may have thought it was! Today Mom and I are going to the doctor to see what she has to say! Maybe she can plan that I will come to the world early, its getting tight in here....I hear mom saying that she can see me moving. She just can not figure out if its my hands or my legs that she sees

Well, going to let mom go, she finds it hard to sit at a computer desk for a long time....

Good Morning Everyone! Its been a long long long time since I have been able to write, well let me tell you I made mom get up early.... The furry one helpled he needed to go outside for some reason! I'm soon to be here, I think I want to come early, I am running out of room in here. Every time I move now, I hear a strange ouch from outside..... I will have to figure out what that is when I am out of here! My aunt Sharon, Mom and I went out shopping yesterday! I wanted more things..... The only thing that was bought was something for mommy to help her hold me up when she is feeding me! A nursing pillow! Mommy and Daddy bought a new car, it has lots of room. The furry one will be exiled to the back seat while I get to sit in the second row. Mom and Dad get the front row, even if it is only one of them.... Where is the fairness. Mom is getting ready to wash all my cloths and place them away in anticipation for me. She as so much to wash! Mom has 2 days left to work and she says she is very happy for that, I don't know why she's complaining, its not like she's running around, she walks slower then I could if I were out..... I think.

Well I better let mom go, she has class to attend today to see how to get me out and to keep me happy once I am!

Crib arrived and assembled

Baby has a beautiful new crib that was given by the Jardine family. Sharron, Poppy Anthony and Dad put it together over the holidays.

The crib is missing 1 part, the spring frame, but Sharron managed to find it at the store, and will be bringing it along soon.

It's very beautiful, and very sturdy.

Mommy status and preparations

Mommy is doing very well, with only the problems of some swelling in her feet, and some rumblings in the tummy when baby is moving and kicking. Only a few weeks to go now!

We have some new hospital clothes and things ready to pack in preparation for the trip to the hospital. We're really getting ready for the bid day.

By popular demand, here's an update on baby things. Tammy got the last part of our bedroom set, a dresser and mirror, that will serve in baby's room for the time being. Nanny and Poppy Anthony purchased the stroller and car seat. Tammy changed her mind at the last minute, and requested a 3 wheel jogging stroller. It's much lighter than the previously desired travel system, and I think it's much better.

Its been a long long time, I have not been able to say hello as mommy's been busy and tired... Mainly because of me... I am super big, making mom super tired, or at least feel like she is further along than she is....Mom wanted to have this posted though.... She wanted to make sure that everyone knew how happy she was for all the lovely things that have been given to us for l'tle ol me....Nanny and poppy brought lots of clothes and things from Newfoundland friends and family, details will follow. My aunt Sharon arrived with my quarters for the next 18 years and clothes too! I have the most beautiful crib from mom's family! Again details and pictures to follow. I also hear that nanny and poppy are going to get me the coolest stroller ever so I will be in stile and comfortable while the furry one and I go for walks with mom! I think I will let mom try and sleep now as she has to work tomorrow, I made her nap earlier and the FURRy one one woke her up...... I am going to have to talk to him when I get out. Not to mention I think he is trying to secure the favorite grandson spot with my grandfather, they are always out walking with each other...... Just you wait Nova, I am on the way

Baby Kicks

Finally, after days and days of effort I've felt baby kick. It was a good strong one. He's been awake consistently in the evenings, so tonight when he was moving about I tried. I could feel a little rumbling, and something kinda harder than the rest on Tam's tummy. When I touched the hard bit, we got a big kick, enough to visibly move my hand.

Yea. Now I'm quite pleased.

Baby movements

Although Mommy has a cold, baby is quite active. Tammy said she could actually see her tummy move yesterday when baby was kicking, or flipping around. I have yet to feel the little guy, despite many efforts. He's active one minute, but when I come to see he gets quiet and goes for a nap. Oh well.

In general, all is well. We're getting freezing rain and snow today, which Nova is enjoying, but not the rest of us.

Hello everyone, its been a few weeks, not much has been going on. I feel like a am expanding over night.... I really feel like like i am getting huge. I am feeling the little guy a lot now, infact I think he's going to be in karate some day with some of thoes well placed kicks I have been feeling. I am also getting sick....I really was trying to be so careful, but my chest is filling up and no doubt I will be sick for the next week or so.... great! I have bought a few clothes for the little guy.... I don't want him to be with out clothes.

Tonight we were out looking for a car for our little boy..... I did not feel any objections to any of the cars that we tested. I guess he likes them all. Steve and I are not sure, there are + and -'s to all of them. Steve and I were both very tired and wanting to leave when I let the sale's man off the hook..... telling him he can give us prices next week.....

We then went and bought supper, and ventured into the drug store... there i was informed that I should blog what I had just bought... 2 Avent pacifiers, for new borns. This is the same brand of bottles that I plan on using for our baby's feeding..... It is also the Brest pump I plan on buying if I am able to breast feed. Looking at the price of formula I sure do hope for our wallets I am able to, for his health I really really hope I am able to.... From everything I read breast feeding is best if you can

Ultrasound Video

We went for a followup ultrasound today to check for the 4 heart chambers. Everything checks out, and the baby is doing quite well. He was in a good position today, and a bit bigger, so we decided to have the video done. The video is lots better than the photos, as the movement can help you see what parts are what. I'll be honest though... I'm taking their word on the "boy" thing. It's kinda hard to tell.

I can distinguish the face, hands, legs, head, body... I'm sure I could even see fingers and toes.

Tammy is doing well, and baby is good. He's ever so slightly larger than average.

As of today baby weighed 1 pound and 14 ounces.

Decorating Baby's room

Tammy went and got some Nemo(TM) removable stickers, and a nice border for the baby room (currently still office). We're thinking the bit in the middle here might be just right for a nice cross-stitch or something. Tam's mom said she would provide curtains.

General health and activity update

All is well.

There was some worry earlier this past week when we thought there might be signs of preeclampsia, a potentially very serious condition. No worries, all is fine. The tests have come back fine, the blood pressure is good.

My boy is starting to kick. We went out for dinner this evening, and he started kicking Tammy just as we'd finished the appetizer. Must have been good stuff. She'd felt "butterflies" and little wiggles over the past little while, but this was like a knock on the door. I guess she'll start to feel him more frequently from now on.

It's a boy

We received confirmation of Tammy's belief that baby is indeed a boy today. Lots of measurements were taken during the test, and all appears good, with a healthy size and aprox 140 bbm heartbeat. We didn't get the 3D imaging or video done as we'd hoped, because we have to return for another ultrasound later to check some of the bits that he didn't let us see today. In the first image you can see baby's head clearly as the round portion to the right, and the body (and some arm possibly) to the left.

In the second image you can see the spine. During the exam we saw the bladder, kidneys, ribs, arms/legs (particularly the femur), and of course, the incriminating dangling bits in the groin region. He was very active again this time, lots of flailing and moving about... but he would not turn over to show the heart properly -- they need to check that the heart and all 4 chambers are visible. So we'll go back in a few weeks and try that part again, and hopefully we can get the video done.

Ha ha! I tried to tell you mommy in your dreams who I will be! I know you did not believe them totally until you saw my picture today! But trust me Mom you knew (plus you had a 50/50 chance) I am Mr Baby for all you out there, I am a boy! My dog (aka the furry one) is just waiting for me! A boy and his dog, Nova will be my buddy. I can't wait to go for walks with him in the park! NO pink car seats for me :) Although pink looks good on some guys! ;) Mom that does not mean frilly dresses and blankets! Mom and Dad are not sure what to name me, they were more decided on girls names, and they though it was a boy - now why would they do that! I had pictures of me taken all over, the only one thing that they could not get a picture of is my heart. My heart was beating at a very normal and healthy rate, however the lady was not able to see all the chambers of it. So I have to go in for more pictures now...... In Three weeks November 3rd I have more pics taken, hopefully then they will be able to see it all. November 15th I have my next appointment to see the doctor...... I will be 6 months then! Wow I will almost be ready to arrive - well not that soon! Well must get going! Maybe I should go wake daddy up tell him I want to play catch! Or learn to golf! Or play hockey...... Or get him to read me a book.

Half way there

I am starting the journey down the back 20 :) Half way there, next week we may find out if its a little boy or a little girl. All info that we have been reading says to talk sing and play music for our little one as he/she can hear us.... The child will definitely have a diverse music taste Bach and 50cent haha..... Its first words may be Nova No your not chasing that squirrel, Nova Don't pull me, good boy nova :)
I took nova to the park for a run yesterday morning before we went out for breakfast, which was so very nice to see Steve's Aunt and Uncle!
My belly is starting to push up, and I am finding it hard to get off the futon! I did not think that would happen, as I always carried around extra weight. Getting out of the car is not fun anymore either! I roll out :( For that matter getting into the car is not the most eloquent thing I do now either. Surprisingly at only 20 weeks I find stairs sometimes weird as it enhances the feeling that I am supporting a huge water balloon... Not sure how you could experience this one? Its just so very wired! VERY. I would like to start getting our baby's room ready, however I have a huge problem..... We have not sold our house yet.
My mom will be coming up the end of Feb to see the new little one! :) the first grandchild for the second time (hehehe) the real first one is all grown up and about to graduate from bootcamp. We are proud of you Amanda Jayne! Can't wait to see you! I probably wont be able to go to your graduation, but I sure wish I could!
Steve's Mom Dad and Sister are coming up to see the new baby too, just not sure of the date for their arrival, well we will see them at Christmas for sure!

Well I will be going now, I think I will get some breakfast and then a bath. Steve is still asleep and Nova's gone back to sleep as we were out this morning in the cold fresh air and had his business taken care of.... Poor Nova, he does not know what he is in for! :) He will be a good Doggie to the baby, some kid gave him a big hug face to snout with a big squeeze freeaked the mother out, happen to quick for me to react.... But the main thing is. He did not do a thing, kid was lucky it was Nova he gave the hug to.... Many dogs would not have taken kindly to a stranger doing that to him. But nova's a cool dude, and just rolled with it. I love him so much, I think he was born to be ours!

Baby heartbeat recording

We bought a baby microphone. It's still kinda early to be able to hear things clearly, but with patience we think we've been able to capture the sound of the heartbeat. It's faint, and not a studio quality recording... it actually sounds much much clearer in the provided headphones. I've increased the volume quite a bit to allow it to be heard, but you might want to turn your speakers up a bit. There are a couple of distortions (sharp crackles)... the heartbeat noise is much much fainter in the background.

According to the instructions, we're not really supposed to be able to hear it yet. As time goes on and the baby grows I hope the sounds will become clearer, and we should be able to distinguish kicks and hiccups and such... but that will have to wait.

For comparison, here's my hearbeat recorded with the same device.

UPDATE (Oct 3): I have a feeling the the baby heartbeat above is actually Tammy's. Apparently it's possible to pickup the mothers heartbeat on these devices from the placenta. Not sure... again, it's early... we'll try again and see if we can get better results.

Hello everyone, it has been sometime... I have been busy helping mom cook and clean and generally making her to tired to do the above! She's getting all thoes pains that will allow me to enter the dry world! Right now I'm doing cartwheels in here just swimming around.... She can feel me cause she talks to me! She woke me up this morning so I kicked her and elbowed her and even a head butt or two! :) That willl teach her for waking me up! I am about to start growing like mad! We go for pics on Oct 11th, mom's getting excited about that. She was at the doctors last week and heard my heart go. Dad bought a really good heart beat hearing device that should start to work in a week or two!

Mom and Dad were out shopping today while strangers were looking at our house.... Mom found a sale! A SALE at babysrus again :)
Sale sale sale mom loves sales! Well should go, dad's made a yummy supper for us.....
